As warriors age, so must the battlefield- 1vs1 me on LinkedIn, coward-

LinkedIn, the email spam service associated with a B2B social network, has made its move into gaming. Not with a LinkedIn-branded golf putting kit, which surely would’ve nailed the target audience: LinkedIn has started with three simple browser games that can be played daily and, here’s the kicker, track and share stats across networks. Yes, it’s looking to start some friendly rivalries in the executive seats.

The games are available on both desktop and mobile, and are called Crossclimb, Pinpoint, and Queens (thanks, The Verge). The major influences are Wordle and Sudoku. Crossclimb sees players first guess a word from a clue, then create “ladders” of words from that base by changing letters at a time. You then order these five words so only one letter is changing at a time, which unlocks two final words at the top and bottom… and yep I’ve pretty much lost interest too.

I didn’t like Crossclimb much, though you have to give it props for being on-brand. One of my clues for a word was “Small business ____ (Source of funding for some startups)”. The answer is of course “loan”.

Pinpoint’s a simpler word association game, where players are presented a …

Baldur’s Gate, one of my favourite CRPGs of all time, will be free-to-keep for Prime subs next month-

Forget free delivery on all your, I don’t know, microSD cards and mass-produced pantaloons, the real benefit of Amazon Prime is the games the company hands out on its Prime Gaming page once a month. For anyone as hopelessly dedicated to ’90s RPGs as me, next month’s headline offering is a doozy: Prime subscribers can pick up Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition completely for free from March 2 through the end of the month.

This is, you might surmise from the name, the gussied-up 2012 re-release of the original Baldur’s Gate, which came out in 1998. Although it was controversial among fans for a while, it’s had a bunch of updates since its release, and I feel fairly confident saying it’s now the definitive way to play the old classic. In contrast to the ’90s version, it’s got a more intuitive UI, a raft of bugfixes, and will, praise be, run at modern resolutions without having to install mods.

Unhelpfully, Amazon hasn’t said what platform it’ll be for, but last month’s offering of Morrowind (you should really grab Morrowind while it’s available, by the way) was a DRM-free GOG version. Hopefully the same is true of BG:EE.

Steam tells me I have nearly 300 hours in the …

Activision will let you pay to make your Call of Duty guns sound like 2009-

There are few artifacts of videogame culture that can teleport me to a specific time and place more powerfully than the sound of the MP5 from Modern Warfare 2. For months in 2009, the prickly whine of an MP5 followed (ideally) by the chime of a 3-killstreak UAV meant that I was in my happy place—getting a few matches in after school, probably sipping an energy drink I bought with quarters.

I was the perfect age to become a Call of Duty obsessive and still associate the series with some of my fondest memories of gaming, which is why I’m not surprised that, 14 years later, Activision is bottling up that nostalgia and selling it back to me with Season 3 Reloaded’s “Throwback Audio Pack.”

“The ultimate taste of nostalgia is coming with Season 03 Reloaded,” reads today’s blog post outlining everything coming in the May 10 midseason update. The cosmetic bundle will come with two weapon blueprints: the “Good ’Ol Days” Assault Rifle and the “Lachmann Classic” SMG, both of which are fitted with “familiar attachments and retro-fitted audio from that Call of Duty era.”

Weirdly, Activision isn’t being upfront about which guns thes…

Diablo 4’s Season of Blood is really the Season of Horse with all of its massive buffs to mounts-

Just when you thought horses couldn’t be fixed, Blizzard went and did it. Here comes the equine evolution we’ve all been waiting for: in Diablo 4 season 2, horses are finally easier to use and faster than ever before.

Starting October 17, when the Season of Blood starts, you will be riding on the sequel to horses (horses 2) in Diablo 4. They are smarter, faster, and stronger than the previous iteration.

Random rocks and objects in the environment will no longer impede your horse in Diablo 4, and you can break right through barriers when you use the Spur skill. Their base speed is 14% faster, the speed boost from Spur lasts 50% longer, and you don’t have to drag your mouse cursor to the edge of your screen to reach max speed—it’s now relative to where your mouse started when you activate it.

“[Spur uptime] is close to 100%,” game director Joe Shely said on a developer update stream today, confirming that the horses truly have evolved.

Much like the absurd number of dead horses you pass by in Diablo 4 (nobody is talking about this), the cooldown for…

Europe’s top court orders Apple to fork over $14 billion in unpaid taxes to Ireland, even though the Irish tried to let the tech giant wriggle out of it

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has issued a final judgement in an eight-year legal case, and ordered Apple to pay the Republic of Ireland an eye-watering €13 billion ($14 billion) in unpaid taxes. In its ruling (via BBC) the ECJ said it “confirms the European Commission’s 2016 decision: Ireland granted Apple unlawful aid which Ireland is required to recover.”

The European Commission (EC) first accused Ireland of giving Apple illegal tax breaks in 2016, saying that over the period 1991-2014 all profits generated by two Apple subsidiaries in Ireland were booked creatively for tax purposes. The EC’s issue was not with the arrangement itself, but the fact that this arrangement was not available to other companies, therefore creating an unfair advantage for Apple.

This was appealed by, believe it or not, the Republic of Ireland itself. And it even got somewhere: the EC’s decision was overturned by the ECJ in 2020 on appeal. Today’s judgement supersedes that one, which the ECJ now says had “legal errors”, and concludes that Ireland “conferred on those companies State aid that was unlawful and incompatible with the internal market, and from w…

Abstract factory-building sequel Shapez 2 will release in August-

Watch On

Hope you’re ready to build some huge factories, because Shapez 2 is set to release in Early Access on August 15, 2024. The sequel to the previous hit factory-building game takes the simple, flat graphics of the prior and replaces them entirely with a massive 3D spacefield to fill with an infinitely large factory dedicated to one purpose: Making very specific shapes and then throwing them into a huge swirling abyss.

What sets Shapez apart from other factory building games is twofold: The first thing is that your factory parts cost nothing—once a piece is unlocked you can place as much of it as you wantคำพูดจาก เว็บบาคาร่าออนไลน์. Resources are also unlimited. The second is that there are no “automated” production machines. You have to set up the machines to cut, turn, flip, stack, and paint the input shapes to make them into the output shapes.

Shapez 2 is one of the top 100 wishlisted games on Steam, sitting at position 90 as of press time.

The first Shapez started as browser game that you can still play in demo form&mdas…

AMD announces the $329 RX 7600 XT, bringing 16GB of VRAM to its lowliest RDNA 3 chip-

AMD has kicked off 2024 for its Radeon line-up of graphics cards with the RX 7600 XT, sporting 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM and minor boosts to the GPU’s clock speed. It’s still using the same Navi 33 graphics chip as in the original Radeon RX 7600, so there are no additional shaders or memory controllers, though.

That means the new RX 7600 XT has 2,048 shaders and a 128-bit combined memory bus width, but AMD has upped the Game clock by 220MHz (2.25 to 2.47GHz) and the Boost clock by 100MHz (2.66 to 2.76GHz), increases of 9.8% and 3.8% respectively. The VRAM’s clocks are unchanged, though, so the transfer rate is still 18Gbps.

Unfortunately, the higher clock speeds and extra VRAM means the power demand has risen, too. Where the RX 7600 has a total board power of 165W, the RX 7600 XT pushes this to 190Wคำพูดจาก เว็บบาคาร่าออนไลน์. An extra 25W is nothing, to be honest, and should mean that it will only require a single 8-pin PCIe power connector.

I say ‘should’ because it’s not 100% clear in the various images of the third party models. There won’t be …

Sci-fi trumps fantasy as Honkai- Star Rail surpasses Genshin Impact’s launch numbers-

Honkai: Star Rail is off to a fantastic start, the official Weibo account has revealed. As spotted by analyst Daniel Ahmad, director of research & insights at Niko Partners, the follow-up to Genshin Impact has already been downloaded more than 20 million times, a mere day after launch.

This is a considerable bump when compared to the very successful launch of Genshin Impact, which was downloaded 17 million times on mobile on its first four days. It also went on to gross more than $100m in two weeks, covering its development costs. The Honkai: Star Rail announcement seems to be focused on its mobile performance, rather than PC, so I’ve reached out to the developer to find out how it’s doing across the board.

Ahmad adds that it had 30 million pre-registrations, 21 million of them coming from China. And while China is where it seems to be enjoying the greatest popularity, it’s still managed to claim the #1 spot on the iOS charts in more countries than any game before it.

Clearly the appetite for space trains knows no bounds. Or it might have something to do with Genshin being absolutely massive, giving Honkai: Star Rail an enthusiastic audie…

Relax with our very favorite already-affordable gaming chair, it just got even cheaper at $220-

Thick of cushion, broad of base and refined to gaze upon, the Corsair TC100 Relaxed verily deserves its place in the Lineages and Histories of the Great Gaming Chairs of the Seven Kingdoms. It also just got cheaper than ever and is yours for just $220, $30 lower than usual. Get in. Or should that be on?

Either way, this refined racer-style chair has very few compromises, especially for an affordable option, which is why it’s our recommendation for the best affordable, budget-friendly choice among the very best gaming chairs.

We were already fans of the Corsair T3 Rush, but the TC100 is even better. At $70 less (make that $100, now) than the T3 you might expect some kind of compromise, but it’s very hard to find many cut corners, sagging cloth or missing features.

Granted, it’s a little shorter with an 81 cm backrest. But it’s actually wider in both base and backrest, with more cushion in the seat, and less acute bolster (side cushion) angles, hence the “Relaxed” branding.

The main drawback are the 2D armrests. So, you only get up/down and in/out adjustability. Compared to chairs with 4D armrests (swivel and backward/forward movement plus what you ge…

Take over an annoying Skyrim shopkeeper’s shop with this mod-

In a poll of Skyrim’s most annoying NPCs I suspect Nazeem the walking meme would score pretty high (“Do you get to the Cloud District very often?”), along with Cicero the jester, Whiterun’s shouty god-botherer Heimskr, and that one kid in Solitude who says, “I thought adventurers were supposed to look tough?” Spare a hateful thought for Belethor though, the sleazy owner of Belethor’s General Goods in Whiterun, who condescendingly says, “Dooo come back,” when you leave his store.

Belethor also says, “Everything’s for sale my friend. Everything. If I had a sister I’d sell her in a second.” That seems to have given prolific modder wSkeever an idea. Belethor’s Sister is a quest mod for Skyrim Special Edition that reveals the pawnbroker really does have a sister, named Lelaegh, and he really did sell her. Your job is to track Lelaegh down, rescue her, and then help her take control of her deadbeat brother’s shop.

Finding Lelaegh isn’t easy. The trail of people who have bought and sold her leads through various existing merchant NPCs and dungeons until finally you have to travel to the Soul Cairn from the Dawnguard DLC, which means you’ll need to do a chunk of that questli…

Modder creates Hitman 3’s ultimate weapon- A portable, inflatable toilet you can deploy anywhere to drown your targets in-

The most powerful weapon in Agent 47’s armoury isn’t in his armoury at all. It’s adjacent to it: just down the hall and off to the side, where you will find the tool that’s dispatched more scoundrels than any other: The toilet.

If you play like me, anyway. I don’t know about you, but my number one Hitman strat is loading myself with enough emetic to kill a horse and absolutely nothing else. Find a drink or snack tray your target likes to stop at, dribble some poison on it, follow them to the bathroom, drown ’em, done.

Problem is, of course, that those bathrooms can be so far away, or else your target decides to hurl into a nearby bin like a barbarian. Either way, it interferes with your ability to get onto more important Hitman business. That’s why an innovative modder named Notex has created the ultimate all-in-one solution for Hitman 3: The Portable Toilet.

“Enhanced with cutting-edge military technology from Kronstadt Industries,” reads the description, questionably, and “designed to expand upon contact with the ground,” the Portable Toilet is essentially a kind of inflatable porta-john a hitman-on-the-go can deploy wherever and whenever they like. …

Sorry, everyone, sex is temporarily banned in Helldivers 2 because you failed the major order, though some of your fellow soldiers are getting special treatment-

It’s just another normal day in Helldivers 2. Players, regrettably, appear to have failed the major order to liberate Fori Prime and Zagon Prime. While the galactic map shows Fori Prime as safe and sound, Zagon Prime is regrettably at zero percent liberation. We lost, folks. As a consequence of our collective inability to manage our democracy at acceptable levels, Arrowhead Games has hit players with the worst punishment of all.

“The expansion of our citizens to new planets will be reduced in-line with the reduction of expected Element 710 to be produced,” the major order failed dispatch reads. “Further procreation applications will be denied until further notice.” In case you’re wondering what a procreation application is, patriots have to fill in a C-01 permit before any action that could “result in a child”, as per one helpful loading screen tip.

So yeah, you’re not allowed to have sex any more. But your fellow soldier? They could be getting special treatment. A handful of players have reported that they’ve received a conflicting “mission succeeded” statement, without the attached carnal punishment.

Ubisoft is taking another bunch of old games out behind the woodshed-

In what is becoming almost an annual event, though hardly the celebratory kind, Ubisoft has announced it is closing the servers for a bunch of the publisher’s older titles. In the past Ubisoft has somewhat messed-up the messaging on such things, leaving players under the false impression that the affected titles would become unplayable, but now it’s being clear that its “decommissioning” will only affect the online side of these titles, and you’ll still be able to play the singleplayer elements.

The language does, however, remain overly euphemistic, and the publisher still insists that these decisions are “a necessity as the technology that drove those services has grown obsolete.” I don’t buy that rationale and would much rather Ubisoft said “Hey, no-one’s playing these things anymore and it costs money to keep them running, so say Sayonara,” but perhaps the reaction to that would be even worse.

The “decommissioning” takes effect on January 25, 2024, and here are the games affected on PC plus one Mac title as a treat (there’s also a handful of Xbox 360 and PS3 games):

  • Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Mac)
  • Assassin’s Creed Revelati…

US House speaker vote treated to its own (accidental) Leeroy Jenkins sideshow-

The U.S. House of Representatives is currently in something of a crisis, as Republican leader Kevin McCarthy has failed in multiple attempts to be elected speaker of the house. This is an internal Republican spat but the effect has been to paralyse the government and leave the House unable to actually do anything. Or as the BBC puts it: Three days. Eleven votes. Still no US House speaker.

Unsurprisingly, Democrats are getting a bit sick of this, but Representative Jared Huffmann of California apparently decided to express his distaste through an echo of World of Warcraft’s most famous meme. During the latest vote to determine the next speaker, Huffmann voted for the Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, and he did so by shouting “Haaaakkkkeeeemmmm Jeffriiiieeess!”

The delivery is unmistakably similar to the way Leeroy Jenkins shouts his own name, before running off to get his entire crew slaughtered by dragons.

“Yup, I said what I said,” wrote Huffmann in response to a question about whether it was deliberate. “If Republicans are going to make us sit through this repeated self-flagellation, we might as well make it memorable.”

“I will continue doing my …

Two of our favorite wireless gaming mice are at a heavy Black Friday discount right now and I can’t decide which one I want-

I need a gaming mouse. Not just any gaming mouse, you understand. Sitting next to me as we speak are two of the little squeakers, and they are both what I’d call fine. Due to a recent house move in which half my stuff mysteriously did not seem to make it the full 60 miles between my old abode and the new I have misplaced my trusty old Logitech MX Master, and am now left with two budget options that are perfectly acceptable yet completely uninteresting. I have a hankering for something wireless, something premium, something that I’ll truly enjoy using for the next few years, and I’ve narrowed it down to two: the Logitech G502 Lightspeed and the Razer Basilisk Ultimate.

In the US right now these two titans of gaming mouse excellence are at a heavy discount, with the Logitech G502 down to just under $90 and the Razer coming in just shy of the $80 mark. Just ten bucks difference between two high-performance gaming mice from respected manufacturers. But which to choose?

It’s time to get technical.

Let’s start with the G502. For a start it’s got buttons, by which I mean lots of buttons. 11 of them to be precise, fully customisable and ready to be programmed with all …

Wireless headset gets modded with a battery from a baby monitor for a substantial upgrade in battery life and substantial change in looks-

Hunting for hardware news sometimes takes you places you’ve never been before or shows you things that will forever be etched in your mind. Our superchiefintendo Dave pointed me to this one and well, you can’t deny that it’s definitely a thing. What you’ve got is a wireless headset that’s been modded to sport a hulk-sized battery and some wonderfully garish looks.

Posted over at SweClockers, Sweden’s largest PC and hardware website, the project involved two key improvements (or regressions, depending on your view) for a Sennheiser GSP 670 wireless headset: A replacement battery that has four times the capacity of the original and a new set of gel-filled earpads.

Now it’s worth pointing out that the GSP 670 isn’t exactly a budget model and generally retails around the $200 mark, but the modder in question (who goes by the name Shogou on SweClockers and Old World Tech on YouTube) wasn’t happy with the one-day battery life, not to mention that the ear pads had really worn out.

Cue some A-team music (well, a bangin’ techno choon in the video), a collection of tools, and a judicious spot of duct tape. The end result is a headset that can only be described a…

World’s best chess player loses tournament after ‘horror mouseslip’-

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen exited an online tournament on Thursday after accidentally moving his queen to the wrong square, allowing rival Hikaru Nakamura to take it with his king and ultimately win the match. Chess.com called the move a “horror mouseslip” for Carlsen, who left the event in third place with $15,000.

After beating Carlsen in that armageddon match (a special ruleset for tiebreakers), Nakamura went on to win the Chessable Masters tournament and its $30,000 top prize on Friday, putting him ahead of Carlsen in the rankings for this year’s multi-event Champions Chess Tour.

The result of Carlsen’s fatal misclick can be seen in the screenshot above. At the top right of the board, Nakamura’s king (black) can be seen capturing Carlsen’s defenseless queen, which the Norwegian grandmaster had intended to move to b6 to take one of Nakamura’s pawns. Instead, he stuck the piece on f6.

Apparently, this kind of thing happens enough that “mouseslip” is common Chess.com parlance. The commentators instantly knew what had happened after Carlsen reacted and then the move appeared on the stream.

“Magnus mouseslipped!” exclaimed caster Tania Sachd…

You officially have no excuse not to play Deus Ex- Mankind Divided now Prime Gaming is doling out free GOG copies of the game-

You ask me, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a downright gaming injustice. Like Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire or Tyranny (Obsidian has form for these), it’s a game that got a lot of things very right that just never made much of a splash. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Mankind Divided sold millions of copies, but apparently not enough for anyone to bother concluding the trilogy, and it’s not one a lot of people talk about these days. Why? A conspiracy. A conspiracy against videogames.

Brave reader, you can do your part to undermine that conspiracy here and now. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is currently free on Prime Gaming, meaning anyone with a ticking Prime subscription can pick up a DRM-free GOG key for the thing right this second. I actually wouldn’t recommend starting a subscription just to grab it, though: The game has been on sale for a paltry few bucks multiple times before.

But if you do have Prime and don’t have Mankind Divided, you should grab it. Don’t listen to the naysayers making fun of my lad Adam Jensen, DXMD’s Prague is a jewel in the immersive sim crown, right up there with spots like Dishonored 2’s Carnaca or the Sevastopol from A…

Where to find the High Banks weapon and gear crates in Once Human

Tracking down the High Banks weapon and gear crates, when you first visit the hilltop town in Once Human, is the trickiest part of its exploration, but you’ll need to find them if you want to complete every objective in the Explore High Banks mission. The town itself isn’t too big, but there are quite a few buildings to investigate, plus a lot of monsters roaming around who make your job harder.

While the Mystical Crate is easy to find—guarded by the elite enemy in the centre of town—the other two are a little way out, so it’s understandable if you missed them. All that said, here’s where to find the High Banks weapon crate and gear crate to complete those objectives and get some loot.
